Born & raised in Nova Scotia, I've lived in Antigonish, London (England), Toronto, Ottawa & Halifax. As a national magazine writer I covered business, lifestyles, sports and development issues, then wrote the very first investigative piece on Indian Residential Schools in Canada.
I'm an active blogger, aspiring scriptwriter, and passionate essayist. I've been nominated for National Magazine Awards and received a prestigious William Southam/Canadian Journalism Fellowship.
After working for many years as a freelancer, I dreamt up a new business: story-based consulting. My title: "Virtual VP, Strategic Communications". My mission: Use storytelling backed by related strategy to affect positive change for individuals, organizations & communities.
Along the way I have founded a funky little speakers series ("The Ink Tank"; 1995-present), a kool non-profit for kids (UP Basketball; 2013-present), and helped run two other charitable orgs.
I partner with great people - including my creative partner Leo Artalejo - to tell meaningful stories. Like... a healthcare entrepreneur navigating the global pandemic... a sports-tech CEO hell-bent on mentorship... and a young politician who wasn't supposed to get elected let alone put 'diversity' into action.
The next story? Maybe its your's...
